13. The Revolution

Big up yourself for being you,

I dare you to put on that jacket and start a coup.

This feeling – clothes in majesty, clothed in splendour.

Ready to face the world, ready to face he who is my vendor,

My duty as a public defender.

A persona I put on, bought from the store,

To cover myself and to hide in this galore.

My obligations and I are indivisible,

If I’m gonna go down this road, part of my life needs to remain invisible.

But I hate this cage of emotions, I long to be free,

Today is the first day that I start living for me,

Stances have changed before was am I sure,

Now the time has come to open the next door.

It’s time for change,

It’s time for society to rearrange.

I don’t know how we ended up here,

I was writing some words which were dear,

Next thing I know, I’m being spoken with passion, with a glow.

Everything is jumbled, everything is fumbled,

But at least I’m still wearing my favourite coat,

Learning to avoid being a gloat,

Being kind and not causing a rumble,

Learning how to stay humble.

** New poem – 12. The voices of hope:

The day is coming.

The day is coming, my thoughts rot and I can’t tell if I’m happy or not.

A mixed feeling has invaded me like mist. How do I deal with this?

Every day, a maelstrom runs within my head,

Floating always, euphoria and dread.

The voices speak to me loud and clear,

“Tread carefully” or you’ll regret coming too near.

Then a new voice came shining bright,

and with it, a great and unbearable light.

Blinding me at first, then giving me new sight.

An opening to something new, perhaps a delight?

Growth requires a mindset, growth requires glee,

Can someone do this life for me?

A Fresh pair of eyes, and an alternative gaze,

I can finally start to find my way out of this maze.

For my inner advocate stands tall,

See, my eternity exists stuck between walls.

Life presents endless challenges, endless brawls,

It’s how you get up when you take a fall.

11. The cost of embracing darkness:

A sleep in the dark
Transformed his whole path,
Walking through the unknown, fearing it but curious at the same time,
Room to grow, with a point to show.
He knows there is an end. But when?
Just one foot in front of the other, then again and again,
It’s through trouble and turmoil that we all transcend,
Get ready to become awakened,
Be prepared for when you get shaken.
WOW… This coffee is strong, the effects last long.
He looks up with a start,
This life has a purpose projecting like a dart.
I can’t quit yet, so I turn back on the machine,
And I prepare myself for another cup, a slave to the bean.

10. The Mind Labyrinth:

I found a lively swallow and decided to follow,

Down the steep hills and away from my sorrow,

And on my way a stranger said, excuse me, do you have a life I can borrow?

‘No’ I respond, with a shake of my head,

My thoughts are mainly colour coded red, I’ve made my bed,

For this road is as desolate as my tomorrow.

And like a thousand times before I tie my shoelace with-a-bow.

But some say not to worry,

Life isn’t a sprint, so you don’t need to hurry.

There’s a lot of room to grow,

There’s more for you, to show.

If only the next 60 years of my life wasn’t just a grind,

Or maybe I’m just trapped in my mind.

9. The search for self-identity, fulfilment and passion:

Too any options can be overwhelming,

It can help to get involved and delve-in,

You’re ready for the BIG QUESTIONS.

Just remember, if it gets too much, feel free to use the restrooms.

Who am I?

I exist, but why?

What are my values?

What are my have yous?

Find answers by being part of a community,

But be prepared for the unexpected, NO ONE has total immunity,

Explore where you feel a belonging,

That may be with technology, that may be with a login.

Energy, Energy, Energy.

Find what gives you energy,

It might not be the hennessy.

Awaken to creative space,

Feel FREE to turn up the bass.

For your journey is like NO other,

Maybe it contains a lover,

For ONLY YOU will know,

What makes you feel that glow.
