Big up yourself for being you,
I dare you to put on that jacket and start a coup.
This feeling – clothes in majesty, clothed in splendour.
Ready to face the world, ready to face he who is my vendor,
My duty as a public defender.
A persona I put on, bought from the store,
To cover myself and to hide in this galore.
My obligations and I are indivisible,
If I’m gonna go down this road, part of my life needs to remain invisible.
But I hate this cage of emotions, I long to be free,
Today is the first day that I start living for me,
Stances have changed before was am I sure,
Now the time has come to open the next door.
It’s time for change,
It’s time for society to rearrange.
I don’t know how we ended up here,
I was writing some words which were dear,
Next thing I know, I’m being spoken with passion, with a glow.
Everything is jumbled, everything is fumbled,
But at least I’m still wearing my favourite coat,
Learning to avoid being a gloat,
Being kind and not causing a rumble,
Learning how to stay humble.
